Photography Assignments with "Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA)"

In 1991 SEWA http://www.sewa.org assigned me to photographically document women working in different home based trades with united Self Employed Women Association. Ms. Manali Shah, head of the union department of SEWA, introduced me to many women working in production and various trades around Ahmedabad. For many days, I photographed these women in their daily life, work environment and living conditions. The photographs were needed, and are still being used, for many purposes during the various stages of social and legal fights for the workers' rights. My association with SEWA has grown ever since.
